Why Healthier Futures?
There’s a need
8 in 10 children and young people (78%) agree that looking after the environment is important to them (Official Statistics, Children's People and Nature Survey for England)
70% of teachers in the UK don’t feel equipped to teach about the climate crisis (Teach The Future)
59% of children and young people are very or extremely worried about climate change (The Lancet)
To help, we're working with partners to:
Educate children, young people and teachers on people and planet health
Empower them to take action with practical programmes for their schools and local area
Encourage a ripple effect of knowledge to their families and networks
Eco Schools
The Bupa Foundation and Keep Britain are partnering to help create even more Eco Schools.
We’re working together to help young people and teachers feel confident about taking action on their health and local environment, starting at their school.
Over the 2023/24 school year we aim to benefit over 300,000 young people and their teachers. We’ll do this by supporting schools to complete the Eco-Schools programme, create new learning resources, and offer a free training programme for teachers, helping them to feel confident to deliver environmental education. This support will prioritise schools in lower-socio economic areas, enabling them to take part.
